Everything started in Endingen (AG). Ursy and Sidney thought this would be the right location to hold a peace festival for young people. That was in 1990. Over the years, this first youth festival with its 1,200 participants developed into the open-air concert «Rock Against Hate», which took place in Lengnau until 1995.
From 1996 to 1997 the open-air concert «Rock Against Hate» took place at the Zurich Platzspitz with guest stars like Zucchero and Jovanotti - and an enthusiastic audience of 12,000.
1998, the 50th anniversary of the human rights declaration, saw the creation of the «Open Hearts» logo and the organization of a concert with Miriam Makeba at the Grossmünster in Zurich, which was attended by a crowd of 2,000.
In 1998 and 1999 smaller events took place under the «Open Hearts» banner. «Open Hearts» makes people more compassionate and more concerned about international peace.
In April 1999, during the war in Kosova, Sidney Weill was asked if he would organize a benefit concert to help the refugees. Artists such as Sina and Camen spontaneously agreed to participate, and a convoy of 10 VBZ buses filled with supplies was sent to Tirana, Albania. At the request of Tirana's president, DJ Bobo gave a concert there on August 15, 1999. Attended by some 150,000 music fans, it was probably the largest concert in the history of Albania.
